Mother nature certainly turned on a beautiful day for the annual OIGCC social T20 match on Sept 27, with players & supporters enjoying both the sunshine & the cricket!

The Pirates were chasing a 3rd win in a row, this year taking on a new franchise in the Hense Hornet’s. There was a lot of pre-game hype around some of the recruits that the Hornet’s were negotiating with & it was terrific to see the return of a few past club stars in ‘Pabs’ & ‘Boobs’.

After a shakey start the Hornet’s managed to post a competitive total of 126 from their 20 overs, but with a deep batting line-up that included the silky Mark Moncrieffe floating through the middle order the Pirates reached the total with an over to spare. Notable mentions to ‘Boobs’ who made 41 & took 4 wickets for the Hornet’s & also ‘Monga’ whose 50* was the glue that held the Pirate’s run chase together & was the catalyst for victory.

After the match a big crowd enjoyed the entertainment from magician/comedian The Amazing Danny. The kids were in awe of his quirky tricks & the whole crowd were in stitches when he called up Pankaj to assist him with his ventriloquist act.

Overall it was another terrific day at the club & we now look to carry this momentum into the season proper on October 10.
